[She's now remembering that there had been an awful lot of people asking if someone had seen other people, but most cases reported over the journals seemed to be people for whom it wasn't so strange to be missing a couple of days. So she hadn't connected them with Shirley's disappearance and thus wasn't in the mood to comment on.

It's a bit of a struggle to not snap at him, but she manages to keep slightly calmer long enough to ask:] This hasn't happened before, has it? The only time I've seen someone taken by--taken, the window was smashed, but...her bed was still in the right shape for her to have been in it!
