It had startled her and, eventually, she came to accept the idea that the better way to live when no options of saving themselves were there was to live as well as she could until that time came.
But what if it was wrong? Had that guy been right, that it was more productive to take the time when no opportunity to change the situation appeared and use it to make it more bearable? Or was Jay right, that time spent doing anything else was wasted? Was it more productive to rest in the intervening time, or was it better to remain constantly vigilant?
