SEVEN. [Action]

[Fenimore's spent much of the morning walking the road between the shops and house 34, ferrying large bottles that she's filled with every bead she can get her hands on. She's walking quickly, or as quickly as her fairly short legs will allow, and her expression is purposeful. Before it starts raining, she can be found struggling to transport a large standing loom, largely by shoving and, twice after the rainfall started, she could be found with a beach umbrella in each hand, wobbling slightly due to the unbalanced configuration.

Afternoon will find her on the side of the road near the bridge under the four beach umbrellas she had set up in a square that morning. The standing loom is facing the water and, every now and then, she looks past it to examine the colours of the water. A beaded tapestry of a landscape is taking form through the afternoon and likely much of the evening.

But Fenimore is not particularly artistic, however inspired to attempt this much larger beading project than she’s ever tried, so the proportions of the landscape are a bit off. It might be particularly hard to tell that the grass furthest in the foreground is on a hill leading down to the greatly curved beach, but both components should at least be recognizable from the colours: green of largely the same shade for the grass and an alternating pattern of two sandy colours on the beach. To the left, a darker swath of green may be recognizable as a forest, but the angle chosen doesn't permit one to see if any trees are on the right.

It's easy to see, once she reaches that high in the weaving, that most of the attention has been lavished on the ocean. A wide array of shades of blue have been used, suggesting deeper portions and the occasional wave. It may not be skilfully done, but it was certainly carefully done. By the time she reaches near the top of the tapestry, it becomes clear that the sky is also blue, of a much brighter shade than the ocean, with only a couple of clouds.

Too bad there was no penguins here in the winter, though...

It doesn't sound like there'd be enough ice for that here. Unless you can ride them accross something as flat as the lake.

My sister could have figured out something. Although she wasn't here for the winter, so... moot point.

What is she, some kind of penguin sledding champion?

She wishes. She's just able to bend water, so she could make an ice slide for the purpose of sledding.

[blessingone]

[Bend water? How do you--?] She redirects rivers?

[markofthewise]

... it's like magic. [Ah, the easy way to avoid explanations.]

Oh, magic. [That makes sense.] Would it really be worth the bother, though?

[markofthewise]

Well, we don't have the penguins, so...

[blessingone]

I had meant even with the penguins. But it doesn't really matter.

[markofthewise]

Yeah, I guess. Besides, swimming is good.

[blessingone]

Well, of course. Especially in this heat. [Since she hasn't changed from long sleeves on a long dress, all summer weather is too warm.]

[markofthewise]

Yeah, you know, you should have your birthday by the water. Let people go swimming. It could be fun.

[blessingone]

...I wasn't really planning to have a big party. It's weird enough having a birthday here on its own. [Her voice is a little subdued, but it picks up again as she continues.] Maybe it'd be nice to go to the lake, though, even if it is a bit of a walk.

Or the river. There's nothing wrong with swimming there. That's what we did for my sister's birthday.

Well, maybe. I swim there often enough, though, so it's not really something that needs to be planned.

...Your sister is here, too? [I think she hasn't heard about Katara except during the meme date, but I'm not entirely sure.]

[markofthewise]

[A nod.]

Yup. Six months now, I think. I guess I'm lucky, most people here don't have any family.

[blessingone]

Yeah. [She looks away, but she disguises this as paying attention to her beading.] ...I guess we both are. The three...no, out of the four other people from my world, there's only one I don't know and he even knew my sister. The chances of that happening can't be very good. [Though, actually, she does know him. She just doesn't know him well enough to recognize his voice through the journals.]

[markofthewise]

[He's often thought about that. He has some vague ideas about how that works.]

You have a sister? [He's assuming she's not here, though.]

[blessingone]

Mm-hmm. [She nods as she continues to work on the tapestry.] A younger sister. Well, actually, she's my twin, but I was a little earlier than she was. So...I'm the big sister. ...Maybe it's a little silly to think of it that way.

[markofthewise]

Maybe just a little. It depends on how seriously you take your older sibling duties.

[blessingone]

[She laughs a little.] About as seriously as she'd let me. She's always had a bad grip on her temper. [Said as though she didn't.]

[markofthewise]

Oh, I bet that was annoying. How did you deal with that? [Since obviously you don't have a temper at all.]

[blessingone]

Whatever worked. It depended on the situation. She was more stubborn with some things and wouldn't accept it when I insisted, so...I guess that descended into arguing every now and then.

You'd probably know about that with your sister--whichever end of that you're on. [She's guessing older, since he mentioned older sibling duties.]

[markofthewise]

... yeah, actually, that sounds a lot like how it is with my sister. I don't know how many times I've told her something was a bad idea or that certain people were untrustworthy. And of course I was right, but she still doesn't listen. [He shakes his head.] I guess it's a lost cause.
