[So, Fenimore has been hermiting away in House 34 for the past few days. She really isn't liking where the village was going. Okay, so there are spiders and rats (bats are okay, assuming they didn't learn about the myth of flying into people's hair). Okay, so there are ghosts everywhere (even if she'd so far been safe from pranks, since Grune was a very good source of the candy they demanded). But mostly.........it's foggy.
It sounds silly to say, but that's the part that spooks her the most. A couple of years ago, things went pretty bad when it got misty, so she's feeling extremely jumpy. Of course, holing up in House 34 really hadn't worked for her at that time, even with Shirley around to help, and she'd rather abandon ship completely, but right now, she's the only one left to look after Sophie. And Grune. Maybe the latter even more so. So she's going to have to suck it up.
But then Grune's unstoppable thirst for baking has started to empty the fridge and Grune's attempts at shopping were often...less than successful. If it was just her, she'd honestly prefer to go hungry than venture out into the foggy village, but Sophie is a little kid and shouldn't be made to go without. So, it is time to gird her loins and....
...ask the village for advice.]
[Voice]
Hey. [She sounds rather subdued compared to her normal.] Has anyone...seen anything strange around? I mean -- not the ghosts or anything. Well, maybe the ghosts. Are they really just asking for candy? [She's not really sure whether she'd have to worry about them if she goes out during the day, but she hasn't exactly investigated about them, either.]
But...what I meant was...seeing things that aren't there, or...hearing things in the mist. That sort of thing. It's just...it's not usually this quiet around this time of year. [You know. Draft aside. But she hasn't heard much about that yet.] I wasn't sure if it was really safe to go out right now.
[Okay, that should do it. Although....] ...Thanks, I guess.
[Okay, now done.]
[Action]
[Late in the afternoon of the 30th, she'll have finallyrun out of milk worked up the nerve to go out, so she can be found trying to make her way to the grocery store. It's not always a smooth journey, though. Aside from the rats and spiders on both ways, it starts to get dark before she manages to get all the way back -- such is what happens when you put things off too long -- and ghostly activity picks up. Now that she's not in the house that gives away so many treats, she is a fine target for pranks. Pranks which include (but are not limited to) invisibibly picking her up by her grocery bag until her feet start to leave the ground, kicking wildly. Ghosts, man. Bad business.]

[Late in the afternoon of the 30th, she'll have finally
Action
Uh, nice to meet you, too, Spock. If you mean...ghosts, then I think this is the first time. But weird things happen here just about every month.
Re: Action
If you are not going home, may I escort you to your scheduled destination?
[Spock looks at her curiously, he would not mind having the opportunity to talk more...]
Action
And as for his first statement.] You'll almost start to get used to weird things after a while. Almost.
Re: Action
And speaking of Grune...] Your name is most familiar. Do you perchance know of a Miss Grune?
Action
Yeah. We're [.......lots of things, including housemates] friends. We come from the same place. On a...worldwide scale, I mean.
Re: Action
I see.. She is a rather fascinating being. I had the opportunity to have a rather lengthy conversation with her upon my arrival... She is most curious. [Spock says this in a non-threatening fond sort of way... because at first Grune really confused Spock... but then he kind of warmed up to her. It seems as though that is her personality after-all.]
Action
[...Actually Fenimore just underestimates Grune a lot.]
Re: Action
She mentioned a rather interesting fact about herself... that she was unable to explain. Are you and Miss Grune of the same race? [Because it is not everyday that someone tells him that they are a 'force'...]
Action
Okay, breathe. He can't know she's not human, right? And, with those ears, he's certainly not from Melfes. He mightn't have even heard of Ferines before. She attempts a laugh and a casual tone, but both are forced.] Huh? Of course. What kind of question is that?
Re: Action
Was that not a valid question? I am curious because she said she was a 'force'... and I had wondered what that entailed.
Action
A what?
Re: Action
Since I can safely assume that you heard me the first time, I will not repeat myself. Though now I wonder if you and her are the same.
However, I do not wish to pry, I was merely curious. She informed me that a room-mate of hers called her that.
Action
She waves a hand dismissively.] No, we're not anything like that. She's [tiny hesitation] human, right? I don't know what you got told, but she must have gotten it mixed up. There's no one like that from our world.
[Fenimore can be pretty dense at times, as well as firm in her preconceptions.]
Re: Action
Very well. I apologise for the intruding questions. Grune is a very kind individual, and she was most welcoming to me when I first arrive in Luceti, so I was merely curious about her nature.
May I inquire as to how long you have been here?
Action
I've been here for...well, in a couple of months, I'll have been here for...three years. [She sounds actually a little surprised, as she doesn't really think about it that much.] ...But most people don't stay for that long. It's...not really something you may have to worry about.
Re: Action
Given the nature of Luceti, I would have assumed that inquiring about the various species found here would not be considered 'weird'.
And you imply that I am 'worried'.... such is not the case. I am merely curious.
However, you have been here for a rather extensive time... a rarity for certain.
Your knowledge of this place must be vast... [Not that Spock was trying to dig for information or anything....]
Action
And I wouldn't say my knowledge is really vast. I'm not really the kind of person who figures these sorts of things out. I just...listen sometimes. ...If you're looking for people who know a lot, you'd probably be better to talk to Albert. Or Raine -- she wrote the guide.
Re: Action
... I am acquainted with Professor Raine, she is an intriguing individual...
However, I am not necessarily looking for information at this time, for now I am content in finding out more about the populace of Luceti. There are rather fascinating individuals here.
[Spock thinks for a moment... he is not inclined towards 'small talk'... however, he was legitimately interested to know...]
..May I inquire as to what you do on a regular basis? [Good job Spock... way to ask a girl what she does for a hobby....]
Action
Uh -- do you mean like a job? [Because she's kind of a housewife currently, except without the romantic attachment.]
Re: Action
Sometimes it is difficult to comprehend a 'regular life' while being held captive in this place.
Action
I...guess I'm busy looking after a couple of my housemates, mostly. I mean, I swim in the summer. I bead, I go on walks, I eat Grune's baking. Sometimes, I read a little. [Mostly comics what a nerd.] I...guess you aren't going to learn that much about life in this captivity from me. I just try to keep my head down and keep out of trouble. For being captives, it's easy to pretend that everything is normal outside of Shifts if you aren't the sort of person who can change these kinds of things.
Re: Action
It is rather...difficult to pretend for a Vulcan, and though it is illogical, I have been craving a bit of normalcy. [Spock looks away from Fenimore for a moment...
It's Halloween right? Things being 'difficult' is an understatement for Spock...
Spock then gives Fenimore another look...] You have a rather soothing presence Miss Fenimore. I am a touch-telepath, as well as an empathic being... being around those who have no control over their emotions when I am tired can be quite the...challenge.
Action
I'm really not sure what a...touch te-le-path is, [her pronounciation of "telepath" is pretty rough, since it's not a word she uses a lot or ever] but if you don't deal with emotional people well, I can see how you would want to have long convsersations with her. [Fenimore feels like Grune wouldn't react to the end of the world with anything more intense than an "oh my."]
...And...thanks, I guess. [For saying she has a soothing presence. He probably just meant it as a fact, but she chooses to take it as a compliment.]
Re: Action
A touch telepath is one who is able to read the thoughts and emotions of another through physical touch. It is a biological trait among Vulcans. Do you or your people have any specific 'powers'?
Action
Nothing as strange as -- you can read minds?
[She makes a note to herself to try not to touch Spock. Also her first statement is blatant lies. Her people have plenty of weird powers. She just keeps very quiet about them.]
